Minigames and Sugar Lumps

Once your bakery is big enough, Cookie Clicker opens up a whole new layer: sugar lumps, building levels and four minigames hidden inside your Farms, Banks, Temples and Wizard towers. Here is how they work and how to get the most out of each one.

Sugar lumps

Sugar lumps unlock once you have baked one billion cookies in total. A lump appears above your big cookie and slowly grows, even while the game is closed:

  • After about 20 hours it is mature and can be harvested, though you might not get anything.
  • After about 23 hours it is ripe and harvesting it is guaranteed.
  • About an hour later it falls off and is collected automatically.

Some lumps are special: bifurcated lumps can give two, golden lumps give several plus a pile of cookies, meaty lumps are unpredictable and caramelized lumps can give up to three. You can see the type by hovering over the lump.

Spending sugar lumps on building levels

Click the level number next to a building's name in the store area to level it up. Level 1 costs one lump, level 2 costs two, level 3 costs three and so on. Each level gives that building +1% production.

The best first use of your lumps is unlocking the four minigames by bringing the Farm, Bank, Temple and Wizard tower to level 1. After that, extra levels on these buildings make their minigames bigger and stronger, while levels on Cursors and Grandmas are a popular choice for raw production.

Garden (Farm)

The Garden is a small plot where you plant seeds that grow over time. Mature plants give passive bonuses while they grow, and some give rewards when harvested. The plot starts small and grows as you level up your Farms.

  • You begin with Baker's wheat only. Planting two kinds of plants next to each other lets them cross-breed into new species in empty tiles nearby.
  • There are 34 plants to discover, from useful ones that boost production or golden cookies to strange weeds and fungi.
  • Different soils change how fast plants grow and how often they mutate. Switch soil depending on whether you want bonuses or new seeds.
  • Once you have unlocked every seed, you can sacrifice the garden for 10 sugar lumps and start collecting again.

Stock Market (Bank)

The Stock Market lets you trade goods produced by your buildings. Prices move up and down all the time, and the goal is simple: buy low, sell high.

  • Each stock tends to drift back toward a resting value that grows with your Bank's level. Buying well below that value and selling above it is a reliable strategy.
  • Every purchase has a 20% overhead fee. Hiring brokers lowers that fee, so they are worth buying early.
  • Upgrading your office lets you hold more of each stock.
  • Profits are counted in cookies, and big trades also unlock achievements.

Pantheon (Temple)

The Pantheon has three slots, called Diamond, Ruby and Jade, where you can place spirits. Each of the 11 spirits gives a bonus, often with a drawback; the Diamond slot gives the strongest version of the effect and Jade the weakest.

Changing spirits uses worship swaps, which recharge over time, so plan your setup instead of swapping constantly. Popular choices include spirits that boost production while you idle, raise the value of milk, make buildings cheaper or turn selling buildings into a huge clicking bonus for combos.

Grimoire (Wizard tower)

The Grimoire lets you cast spells using magic, which refills slowly over time. Your maximum magic grows with the number and level of your Wizard towers. Every spell has a chance to backfire with a negative effect.

  • Conjure Baked Goods gives a quick pile of cookies.
  • Force the Hand of Fate summons a golden cookie on demand, the key to big combos.
  • Stretch Time makes your current buffs last longer.
  • Other spells give a free building, make upgrades cheaper, lower building prices or cast a random spell.

A classic trick is to wait for a Frenzy or Building Special, then cast Force the Hand of Fate hoping for a Click Frenzy on top of it.
